Vinnie Van Go-Go’s Yuppie Pizza {Savannah, Ga}
I am in a pizza state of mind.
We have pizza at my house almost every week, but sometimes things get a little repetitive. I have been wanting to get more creative with pizzas lately, and in the September 2011 issue of Food Network Magazine, they published what they thought to be the best pizzas in America. These are the best pizza recipes? I’ll take them up on that.
Of course only ingredients are listed (no exact measurements) and of course don’t expect to get the secret recipes of everyone’s signature crust. So, following with that theme, I will be using my standard pizza crust – making it thin, thick or chicago style when described – and I will be judging the pizza based on toppings.
Since I live in Georgia, I naturally went to Savannah first. We are taken to Vinnie Van Go-Go’s for their almost famous Yuppie Pizza.
With most of my favorite toppings on it, how could this not be good? Score one for Georgia. 49 states to go. From here, we will go in alphabetical order.
The crust at Vinnie Van Go-Go's in Savannah is made from the restaurant's original dough starter, now 20 years old. Ingredients Directions

Can’t wait to see California’s pizza.
Don’t you just love banana peppers? California’s was really good! I unfortunately couldn’t find wild nettles so I had to substitute baby spinach.
