Blue Cornmeal and Jalapeño Jam! My Foodie Penpal Sent Me A Box O’ Goodness.
Wait. Foodie Penpal?
I saw another blogger post about their Foodie Penpal last month and I thought it was a great idea! All over it. So I immediately contacted Lindsay and filled out the contact form on The Lean Green Bean to join in the fun.
My first box came from Judy – a photographer from Oklahoma. You can check out her website, Visuality Photo.
So what did I get?
Prairie Fire Jalapeño Jam – I’m not sure how she knew I love this type of stuff, but she nailed it. Had some with some crackers already and it was tasty. Not too spicy at all. She informed me that it was great served with chicken or pork. Green Chile Enchilada Sauce. Now this would have come in handy when I made enchiladas the week before! Now I can’t wait until next time.
I was stumped when I saw the Red Gold Sea Salt, but I am assuming I can use it anywhere I use regular sea salt. Never can have too much.
Blue Corn Meal! So excited about this. I already know what I will be making… Blue Corn Meal Madeleines. Mmmm. Actually, I’ve got a few things on my list, but that is first. I also had some Abuelita’s Mexican Style Hot Chocolate and you know I already enjoyed one of those. So, I look forward to enjoying my box and thinking of things to send to my penpal for next month!
We do not send boxes to the person that sends to us and it is a different match every month. Want to join?

i used to love when my mom bought blue cornmeal when i was little and we made blue cornbread! also, i just tried red salt…not sure if it’s the same as red gold sea salt but it was WAY saltier than white salt so you might want to check that out before adding the same amt as white
I can’t wait to try making blue cornbread – my daughter will love it. I did finally try some of the salt, I think it is a bit saltier, so maybe I will use it just for a decorative garnish?
