Move Over Chocolate, There’s a New Fudge in Town!
Soft. Sweet. Slightly salty.
Who knew that fudge made out of peanut butter could be so good?
I never have been a fan of fudge. Actually, I never tasted it until this year – when I made it myself. This is only the third time I have made it, but each time I wondered why I hadn’t done so before. Me, being such a dessert loving, sweet tooth having, foodie. It just happens to be the perfect little square of sweet goodness which is perfect for someone like me who has to have something sweet to eat after dinner. I call it my sweet treat.
These are perfect. Since they freeze beautifully, they will also last me a long time and I let it be known that they are all mine. All mine.
What you’ll need:
The most tedious part of this recipe was sifting the sugar – and really, that was my fault because I don’t have a larger strainer. Get a big sifter and a big bowl and this will fly by. It also only takes an hour to firm, so you can eat it faster than the traditional chocolate fudge!
From the Brown Eyed Baker
Ingredients
- 1¼ cups (10 ounces) unsalted butter
- 1¼ cups smooth peanut butter
- Pinch of salt
- 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
- 4½ cups powdered sugar, sifted
Directions
- Butter an 8-inch non-stick baking dish (or line with buttered parchment paper) and set aside.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, heat the butter and peanut butter until the mixtures comes to a boil. Remove from the heat.
- Add the salt and vanilla extract, then stir in the powdered sugar until smooth and no lumps remain.
- Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Press a piece of plastic wrap directly on the fudge and refrigerate until set, at least 1 hour. Cut into squares and serve. Fudge can be stored at cool room temperature in an airtight container.

I never had peanut butter fudge before now. I do like it better than the chocolate.
OMGoodness! There was a lady in the Main Exchange on Fort Dix who sold these kinds of delicious goodies! My husband bought so many bars in February and we had them until the summer. They are awesome! Now that I have a recipe for them, the family and I may be in trouble…especially since I can’t eat chocolate the way I would love to! Thank you so very much for sharing!
Yes, they are dangerous! This recipe is so easy and you could easily alter it to suite your tastes.

When I saw this, I immediately thought of the fudge my grandmother always made at Christmas. Not sure why, but no one has made it since she’s been gone…might just have to make some this year! This looks like a great recipe!
